Little Grass Shack’s “Hana Hou Spotlight” (Kama’aina Spotlight): Kauai Cafe Hawaiian restaurant owners Steve and Dawn talk story with Island Emory and Punaboy.

Kauai Cafe

Located on the far west side of Las Vegas (Tropicana/Hualapai) is a small Hawaiian restaurant that’s big on quality. The Kauai Cafe’s husband and wife owners Steve and Dawn truly represent the “Spirit of Aloha” through the operation of their restaurant. As “Aloha” comes from the heart; deep inside, so is the island style food they serve. Both Hawaii Islanders and Islanders-at-Heart flock to the “just like home” restaurant eager to devourer the flavors of Aloha.

The name of the restaurant, it’s food plates and the attention giving in preparation are a tribute to Steve’s parents who have passed on. The reminder and ties between the restaurant and Steve’s parents is what drives him to provide the most “onolicious” food; no short cuts, it’s about pride and honor. Asked if he has any plans to expand restaurant locations, “No, I want to stay focused on the quality and not compromise the experience of it”, Steve said.
