After a week off the UNLV Rebels looked to get back in the “W” column hosting the Mountain Division leading Wyoming Cowboys. An exciting game filled with ups & downs and back & forth lead changes that ended in a 52 – 52 tie with Wyoming scoring on the last play of regulation. The shootout went into triple overtime, each team scoring two touchdowns on their first two OT tries. The Rebels stepped up their defense intercepting a Cowboy pass during the 3rd overtime, then kicked the winning field goal. 69-66.
The offensive shootout did have it’s share of good defensive plays hidden between the 135 total points scored. UNLV linebacker Tau Lotulelei led the Rebels with 12 tackles, 6 solos. Tui Maloata and Bailey Laolagi each had fumble recoveries at crucial points gaining momentum for UNLV scores.
This was the highest scoring game in the history of the Mountain West Conference.
